Botox in Melbourne
Trying to find a good Botox injector can be a difficult task, so i decided to do some research and find out some info. What I found is there is a great deal of difference between price, experience, and the service so it is worth doing your research. Obviously the best way to find a Botox practitioner is to find someone who has had Botox done and is happy with the results and the service, but if you are new to the cosmetic medicine arena I can tell you the following.
Over a period of a few years I tried many different places, from cosmetic to plastic surgeons, to nurses and doctors who visit beauty salons.
Firstly I will mention the price. Most of the places I went to charge Botox by the unit. This is where the most of the variation was. I found the price to be anything from $15 to $28 a unit. Most clinics gave discounts the more units of Botox you had. Some clinics charged for a Botox consultation usually around $50, some gave free consultations. Some of the places that charged for a consultation took this off the cost of your Botox treatment, some just bulk billed me on my medicare card.
The second thing I found was that at many of the places I went it was a cosmetic nurse who did the actual injecting of Botox. Sometimes I would see a doctor for my initial consultation then a nurse would do the Botox treatment. It was only at one plastic surgery centre he doctor did my Botox treatment and also at one beauty salon.
As far as the actual treatment went some people seemed rougher than others, some offered numbing cream; some used ice, some used nothing. The numbing cream was definitely the best the downside having to wait half an hour for it to work. The ice worked well enough when I didn’t want to wait. Having nothing at all was rather uncomfortable. A few times I had small bruises but nothing I couldn’t cover with makeup.
My results varied slightly but Botox seems to always work well for me. The only time I had a problems was when one person suggested I have some in my upper frown and I had heavy eyelids for weeks, and i paid extra for this. I didn’t have this area done again.
One of my gripes was some of those I saw trying to sell me other services, such as liposuction or thread lifts or fillers restylane and juvederm. Only being 33 I don’t feel i need these. After some of my Botox treatments i walked out feeling like I must be the worst aging woman on the planet with fat thighs to boot. The other gripe was having to wait a long time. At one place I waited over an hour. This is just not acceptable in this day and age. I can accept my obstetrician running late due to an emergency Caesar, but I don t know there would be any emergency Botox or restylane treatments needed.
I am definitely a Botox fan, and will continue to keep having it as long as my bank balance allows. The next thing I am thinking of having is some lip enhancement, not quite an Angelina lip , but just a little fullness to my top lip. Now my next dilemma, do I go the Restylane or the juvederm.......choices choices.
So I know what you are now asking who would I go to in Melbourne. What I would say is shop around, find someone you click with. I now go to a place called Jeune www.jeune.net.au and see a nurse called Melissa. She likes a chat and so do I, we spend the first five minutes catching up on each other’s news. She is based at their Caulfield site. I found Jeune to be at the lower end of the price scale and the nurses seem quite honest and don’t try to sell me things I don’t need. Both the nurses Melissa and Marjie have been doing this for years, and injecting Botox and fillers is all that they do, and most of the time they run on time. Touch wood I am yet to get a bruise!!!The only downside is they do some mobile work and travel to the country so are not always available on the day of choice but as i only go back every four months I can usually work around it.
I hope this helps anyone looking around, when you first look at having botox it seems like such a big decision, but once you have it the once there is no looking back
